One World Education held its 4th annual Youth, Culture and Learning Celebration at the historic GALA Theatre on May 1, 2012. The event recognized the hard work and writing skills of our 12 new One World Student Ambassadors and was a chance for their families, their teachers, and the community to honor them. Check out our new video to learn more about these 12 student writers!
At the YCLC, DCPS Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Carey Wright, presented our new Global Educator Award to two outstanding DC-area teachers: Julie Caccamise, from Woodrow Wilson High School, and Kamel Igoudjil, from Calvin Coolidge High School. Both teachers exemplify the mission of One World Education by fostering learning around global and cultural issues.
Once again, Dr. Wright showed her support for our programs by giving an inspirational speech, stating, among other things, that "Through One World Education's innovative approach, students are not just writing for a grade, they are empowered to go deeper and develop a piece of writing that will educate their peers."
