Position: Afterschool Program Teacher Leader

Status: Contract

Compensation: $45/hr (NTE $1,750 per program)

About One World Education

The mission of One World Education is to transform students into writers with voice, knowledge, and purpose. One World leads the largest writing program in Washington, DC schools, serving 5,000 students annually. For more than 15 years, students participating in One World’s programs have increased their knowledge of social justice and become critical researchers and skilled writers; two essential skills needed for college and career success.

 

Required Responsibilities

  • Complete all necessary background checks in a timely manner
  • Attend TLT training and end-of-semester debriefing sessions
  • Teach and mentor 4:45pm-7:15pm Tuesdays and Thursdays for 20 sessions, starting 10/22/24
  • Provide feedback and academic support to a small group of students; provide supervision and support for entire student body.
  • Complete weekly administrative tasks including taking attendance, updating spreadsheet of student progress, and responding to emails and texts within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Work to ensure that students uphold the Code of Conduct and report concerns to the Site Lead or Senior Program Manager by the end of the session, or by 1pm the following day if necessary.
  • Support students and event logistics from 4:30pm-7:30pm at the One World Challenge on Monday, December 16

Key Details

 

When
Tuesday-Thursday 4-7pm with 3-5 additional asynchronous hours each week, including a weekly meeting during regular office hours.

Fall semester, 9/17-12/16. This position includes the possibility of extension into spring, contingent upon performance and program needs.
