We are thrilled to announce our expanded partnership with Higher Achievement, a nationally renowned nonprofit organization that provides rigorous out-of-school time programming to 1400 middle school students in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Richmond, and Washington, DC
Last summer, we piloted the One World Program in Higher Achievement’s seven Summer Academies across DC. Students in grades 7 and 8 honed critical research and writing skills with our program as they explored social justice issues of personal interest, such as immigration, gun violence, and climate change. Their hard work avoiding the summer slide paid off, as 80% of students achieved statistically significant gains over a five-week period.
Based on that success, Higher Achievement has extended our partnership for the next four years to three new cities and for students in grades 5 through 8. Please stay tuned for blog posts over the course of the summer highlighting our collaboration and the direct impact it will have on boosting students’ writing outcomes.
