One World Education's programs are generating strong positive gains in the teaching and learning of writing in schools across the Capital Region. While we have plenty of evaluative data, our supporters often ask for more personal stories about our impact from students, teachers, and administrators in particular schools.
In 2013 the One World Writing Program was implemented in Eastern High School, a DC Public School in Ward 6. With support from Companies for Causes, OWEd led it's professional development for 9th and 10th grade teachers, and provided each participating student with a Writer's Notebook, which guided them through the Argumentative Writing Unit. Ninth grader Tarrice Thomas wrote about Triggering Peace.
"Writing this essay helped improve my view of cultural and global issues because from reading the essays of other people I learned that there are problems all over the world."

"[Knowing that thousands of students will read my Reflection] makes me feel good. I'm still astonished thinking about becoming a published writer."
