One World is delighted to announce that is has been named one of three finalists in the 2018 Mayor’s Arts Awards for Excellence in the Humanities! One World shares this honor with writer Tara Campbell and the African American Civil War Museum.
The Mayor’s Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors conferred by the city on individual artists, teachers, nonprofit organizations, and patrons of the arts. Artists and Organizations are recognized in six categories: Excellence in Visual Arts, Excellence in Performing Arts, Excellence in Creative Industries, Excellence in Arts Education, Excellence in the Humanities and the Larry Neal Writers’ Awards.
Nominees will be honored at a ceremony on Tuesday, September 25th, at the historic Lincoln Theatre. In addition to announcing winners in each category the evening is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which has been “encouraging the development of programs which promote progress in the arts” in DC since 1968.
