The cost of college is challenging because of the expensive buildings they create in order to attract the public eye. What do you think is the average cost of college

The average cost of attendance for a student living on campus at an in-state public four-year institution is $27,146 per year or $108,584 over 4 years, wrote Melanie Hanson on EducationData.org. Therefore, colleges should start finding a balance between course offerings and amenities.

The buildings are expensive, so colleges charge students more to take classes or to live on campus. People prefer amenities over quantity, especially when it comes to extracurricular activities, so they pick expensive colleges that have expensive gyms or rooms.

Part of the reason why college is so expensive is because of food and dorms. For the 2021-2022 academic year, private colleges’ average room and board is $13,620 and $11,950 in public colleges.

Therefore, colleges should balance their amenities and the classes they offer. Facilities are very expensive. For example, the University of Missouri opened a $36 million recreational complex with a lazy river and a three-story climbing wall. Colleges are driving the costs up by adding more entertainment to get more attention. Colleges are for learning, not entertainment. I mean, the amenities are nice, but they should be balancing each one.

Colleges should stop spending more money on making new buildings so they can stop raising the costs of college to offset it. Colleges are raising costs because they are building more buildings to be recognized more. I am working on this because I want colleges to be recognized for more than the entertainment or their extracurricular activities. Remember: college is not only for entertainment purposes; it is for learning.
