One World Education held the first event in its new Student Ambassador Speaker Series on Saturday, November 17 at Politics and Prose Bookstore and Coffeehouse. Six OWEd Student Ambassadors read their entire One World Reflections and then took questions from the audience. There was a fantastic turnout, and the students demonstrated great poise and knowledge as they presented their essays!
Ranging from 6th to 12th graders, the students all participated in the One World Writing Program and were selected as One World Ambassadors based on the strength of their essays. They were:
- Andre Sanabia: A Divided Island: Haiti and the Dominican Republic
- Matt Kaufax: Fighting Animal Cruelty
- Marwa Eltahir: A New Sudan
- Porchia Ifill: Cost of High School Dropouts
- Samantha MacKenzie: Courage of Military Families
- Je'Von Russell: Teens, Guns, and Violence
If you missed this event, don't worry – we're planning another for the spring!
